Maths

The last two weeks Room 7 have been learning about time.
On a clock you have a big hand and a little hand on the face of the clock.
I have learnt that the numbers 12, 3, 6, and 9  all have a special meaning.

A pilot comes to visit

This afternoon the Middle Team went to the hall to listen to Fran, Mrs Hood's cousin, talk to us about flight: how airplanes work, her job as a pilot and more.

We learnt a lot and it was great that we already knew the answers to some of her questions.

Write a comment about what you learnt!

Collaborative Writing

Today we worked collaboratively with a small group of children in our class on a shared story using google docs.

Here we are busy typing away in a different colour to our buddies so we know what each person wrote. The story prompt was... "There's a monster under my bed!"

We will share our stories when they are finished!

Maths Week: Tuesday

Today we completed the challenge of the day in groups on our computers/devices.

Here we are trying to "Crack the Codes"....

Our Number of the day was 320. Hannah was chosen as the winner because she used place value strategies.... 300 + 20 = 320.

Our fraction of the day was 3/4. We had a lot of pictures, diagrams and equations that represented 3/4.

Maths Week

Today is the beginning of maths week!

We all went on the maths week website to play the fun games and challenges.

Here are some photos of us....

Our number of the day was 102. The winner today was..... Naroa because she wrote 100+1+1=102 and 50+50+2=102. Can you write us a comment about a way that you know that makes 102?

The fraction of the day was 1/5. We had lot's of good ways to show or make 1/5.

30 Circles Challenge

Today we had a 30 Circles Challenge.

We had 15 minutes to turn 30 circles into recognisable objects.

Here is our video.... made by Tegan.

What we found easy and enjoyed:

  • some of us finished early
  • drawing the objects in time
  • figuring out and thinking what to draw inside the circles
  • thinking of good ideas
  • thinking deeply about what to draw
What we found difficult:
  • It was difficult to think of something to draw (Masyn)
  • To fill in all 30 circles in time (Anusheel)
  • Having 30 circles to fill in (Ashley)
  • Getting stuck and you can't think of any more ideas (Thomas)
